Family and friendship loyalties shine brightest during relationship break-ups, and typically lie within the eyes of the break-up beholders. Hours, months - and even years - of shared meals and secrets, email exchanges and g-chats, family visits and vacations, relationship advice and commiseration, are thrown out the window the day paths are divided and loyalties realigned, making the already impossible break-up that much more painful.
