Screensavers, Emoticons, and the Delete Button.
The digital age adds a whole new level of contemplation regarding whether to attempt the survival of a long distance relationship with lovers and whatnot. Computer-equipped cameras allow couples access to the not-so-glamorous details of monotonous daily life as an IRL partnership (computer geek speak for In Real Life), minus the morning breath, clogged drains, and mile-high (dirty) dishes. And yet it's these squabbles over whose turn it is to take out the trash, refill the toilet paper, and pay the overdue rent checks that leads to fits of giggles and appreciation for the companionship in which the activity is secondary to the IRL company.
